Nature Photography Final

At the beginning of this class my goal was to try and capture the beauty for NE Montana, I think I was able to do that through most of my pictures. These were taken around the Billings area, the road between Billings and Malta, my hometown of Malta (and the Bowdoin Wildlife Refuge), the Missouri River Breaks, and also along the Yellowstone River near Hysham MT.

These pictures were taken by the Canon EOS Rebel T3.

Most with the 300mm lens but a few with the 55mm.

What I can take away from this class..

Coming into this class I had absolutely no idea how someone could take such beautiful photos but then I could go to the exact same spot on the same day and my photographs wouldn't capture anything.. Honestly when I first rented the camera from the library I was very (very) intimidated and a little scared of all of the settings and buttons. But with A LOT of guidance and many failed attempts..I was able to produce some beautiful pictures! And I have to say I am very proud of them. Now when I go for a drive I'm always thinking "well that would make a perfect picture." I'm very thankful that I stepped out of my comfort zone (math and science) and decided to take this class, I feel that I learned many great things that I will be able to use them for along time.

My life style involves the out doors a ton, and a lot of it is hunting. It is awesome that now I am able to capture some of my best memories through photographs and be able to share them with others. I look forward to taking more pictures ( I asked Santa for a Canon Camera ;)).

Make Up blog

I used this picture earlier for a critique and had many say that I should try it in black and white so I did and I really like it! I cloned out the branches on the top but other then that I just messed with the darkness of the different colors.

November 10th Blog.

 This was one of the pictures I used for critiques a couple weeks ago. I decided to cut down the crop so it wasn't so distracting and also tried to cut off the green on the bottom. I also used some gradient filters to brighten up the sky as well as the ground.

A few duck hunting shots

Last weekend I was home so we took out the new mud boat and went duck hunting. I decided to try and take a few pictures of my dogs; Meg, Belle, and Cate. Meg and Cate are usually tough to photography because they are so black but I was able to bring back some of their facial features in LightRoom. I'm pretty excited about being able to take these and hope to capture more of them soon!
